Rex looked up; it was dark. A few faint stars shone through the glass roof, the moon was bright and round. He paused, slowly standing, and gazing at the bright stars. One was seemingly in the branches of an apple tree.
“A star in the tree.” Rex whispered, though he didn’t know why he said it. He quietly walked to the tree, staring up at it.
“I wish I could still be chasing stars.” He said wistfully. But- but maybe tonight he could catch the star!
Rex smirked, but carefully looked around. No one. Rex scrambled up the tree, sweet smelling apples all around him. He reached the top branch- and a surprising thing happened. He caught hold of the star.
It wasn’t a star though! It was made of wood, a carving, locked on the outside by some clever way. A pendant. A few random squiggles in gibberish lay across the back, two words were legible- Fleck Cove.
Rex climbed down, fingering the wooden pendant. It was so heavy. It looked ancient. It smelled ancient. But how would someone ancient know who Fleck was?
For some reason, Rex held it up to the light. 1 word glowed. Seemingly floating. Fay.
Rex had to get the pendant to Fleck. His friend was.. well… somehow important!
-Fleck Cove!
