Sorry its late, again, but here it is...
Josiah:
He jumped down from a tree and crouched beside three of his comrades. “Any sign of them bucks?”
The three rabbits shook their heads as they glanced around nervously. He was uneasy too, but he didn’t want them to know it, he was supposed to be the leader. Lord captain Helmer had told him no matter what happened to keep his head and he planned too. He looked down at his uniform, it was slightly nicer than that of his fellows, he was a lieutenant. He had been since Snoden had been injured about two years ago. Snoden had retired out of the army, married Lord Capitan Helmer’s sister Airen, and started farming. Josiah smiled he was glad Snoden was happy, but that wasn’t the life for him. His doubts from a few years before had finally been put to rest here was where he belonged. Here furthering the Cause. There really wasn’t too much left to do, he was sure they had almost won. Ambassador Longtreader was settling things right and left bringing peace across Natalia in the name of King Jupiter. King Jupiter had said, just last week, that after a few more battles to gain a little more land, and peace, they would be done fighting.
Josiah knew his brother Jonathan couldn’t wait; a wedding seemed to be in the near future. Josiah also knew that Joseph had found his place alongside Ambassador Longtreader, helping spread the peace. Josiah sighed, he too had found his place in The Right Arm. Doing missions no one else could be trusted with and protecting the most innocent.
He cocked his ears as he heard movement and motioned to his bucks to be ready. He slowly drew his swords from their scabbards on his back. He crouched ready to jump at whatever it was and then it stepped into the light. He let out a sigh and motioned to the bucks to calm down and stay still it was Lord Captain Helmer.
“The news sir?” He asked sheathing his swords.
Helmer looked him in the eye as he said, “Ambassador Longtreader got here first, we have peace, but…” Lord Captain Helmer hesitated then said, “The Ambassador and his unit brought bad news, Prince Winslow was killed in the last battle. King Jupiter is calling in all military and diplomatic units for the funeral.”
Josiah’s head spun, he felt dizzy and confused. “How?” The question was out before he knew it.
“Bird fire explosion, killed many soldiers as well,” Lord Captain Helmer, shook his head than said, “Back to camp, tell the others, and pack the gear, we move out as soon as I arrive.”
They saluted and hurried off. Josiah couldn’t imagine the pain King Jupiter must be going through, what would it feel like to lose a brother?
Joseph:
Joseph took a deep breath and aimed down his shaft, shoot to disable not to kill. He took another breath Ambassador Longtreader had told him never to kill unless necessary, lives were what was most important that was why they were seeking peace. He released the arrow, but in the second he released it the rabbit he had been aiming for moved. No! He stood and looked back at Lieutenant Wilfred; he didn’t want to see where his arrow would hit. Lieutenant Wilfred scowled at him and he looked back to see that his arrow had hit Prince Winslow.
Joseph sat straight up in bed, breathing hard, his heart racing. He took great gulps of air trying to calm his ragged breathing, someone started shaking him and he tried to clear his muddled mind. He then became aware that he talking and saying the same thing, over and over again, “No! No, it wasn’t me! No!”
“Snap out of it, Shanks,” whoever was shaking him said and Joseph tried. He took slower breaths and stopped jabbing, trying to clear his swirling thoughts. Why had happened? Why was he a wreck, what was that dream about? Then as he woke up it all came back. Prince Winslow had been killed by a bird fire explosion a few days ago and all units had been called in. The funeral had been held yesterday and he remember crying along with many others. Prince Winslow had been loved by many of the soldiers, one because he was a good leader, and two because he was so loyal to his brother King Jupiter.
His breathing slowed and his heart stopped racing as the memories came back and the horror of the dream faded. The reality was a lot less scary then the dream, but still very sad. King Jupiter had taken the loss hard and many of his lords and captains were wondering what should be done. Today was the day that they would find out. Later in the Square, where so much good and bad news had been given, King Jupiter would address soldiers and civilians alike and tell them how things would proceed.
Joseph looked to the rabbit that was still holding his arms and smiled slightly. He then said, “I’m okay now, Darren.”
Darren relaxed his hold and sighed as he said, “Good, I thought you were going crazy there for a minute. I had a cousin that went crazy, plum loco, it’s a scary thing.” Darren shook his head as if to the shake away the memory.
Joseph smiled and said, “No, just a bad dream, shall we get ready to head to the Square?” “It’s the middle of the night, Joseph!” Darren said, yawning, “I don’t think we need to leave this early.”
Joseph looked down and laid back on his pillows as he said, “Well in that case let’s catch a few more winks why don’t we.”
Jonathan:
Jonathan looked at the sun that was now high in the sky. He had a happy, sad feeling inside. Happy because Jupiter said they were done fighting; it was time for peace to found somewhere besides at the end of a sword. He was sad because it had taken the death of Prince Winslow for King Jupiter to reach this decision. Jonathan knew it would take time for Jupiter to get over the lose of his brother, and the guilt he felt. But even though he was sad he couldn’t help but be happy, after fifteen years of fighting he could finally settle down and marry Lea, the love of his life.
The main body of the army was done fighting, but soldiers who wanted to continue could stay on as guards or join one of the ambassadors. Jonathan had already talked to Joseph and Josiah and both his brothers had said they were going to stay with their units. He had thought about joining one, but that would mean being away from Lea, so he figured he would just stay on as a guard here in First Warren. That way he and Lea could settle down and start a life together. He couldn’t wait, they would be married and then they’d have little kits running around all over the place. It would be a happy life, a safe life under the reign of King Jupiter. King Jupiter the Great as they were now calling him. As he walked toward Lea’s house to tell her the news he couldn’t wait for the pure joy and happiness that was in store for him.
Sorry Jonathans part was short couldn't think of ideas hope you guys liked the chapter!
We’re changing the chapter name to Loss of a Brother, makes more sense...lol...named the chapter before we wrote it and now the name doesn’t work...we usually don’t do that...
When it said Snoden married Airen, I thought there was a mistake because of Wilfred and her in EE, but then I remembered, this was a little before that! Haha, great job with this chapter. You all are really improving; each chapter is more fun to read than the last! I'm so happy for Jonathan...his part was very sweet. He feels like the oldest to me for some reason. I could comment on a lotta more parts that I loved but I'll leave it at that since my comments are always too long lol! Good job.
