Okay, so here it is last chapter till after Christmas folks! Hope you guys like it!!!
Jaidie
Alan opened his eyes slowly. He looked around, and he couldn't believe it, he was alive! He knew he shouldn't be, but he was indeed alive. He had thought he was done for, but he was still alive. He cocked his ears as he heard a door open.
He couldn't believe who it was, and he had never been so happy to see that dark-furred face. David was standing there. Alan was so happy to see him. "David, it's you, it's really you!" Alan said, beaming with joy.
David smiled. "Yes, it's me, Alan. How do you feel?" David said, walking over to the bed.
Alan almost glowed. "Great, I feel great!"
David looked shocked to see Alan like this, and Alan beamed all the more. "That's great, Alan. I mean, that you feel good," David said, fumbling with his words.
"Where's Zeke? I want to see him. Where is he?" Alan said, looking around for Zeke.
"He is outside, but the doctor said you shouldn't have too many rabbits in here at one time," David said.
"But I don't care. I want to see Zeke and Ky and everyone else. Even Grace," Alan said quickly.
David backed away, not sure if Alan was okay after all. Had Alan just said he wanted to see Grace? Alan hated Grace what was wrong or right.
"Are you okay, Alan?" David asked, unsure if his friend was indeed okay.
Alan nodded. "Yes, yes, I'm fine. Why would you think I'm not?" Alan asked, clearly puzzled.
David rubbed the back of his head. "Well, you said you wanted to see Grace. Why?"
Alan smiled at him. "Because she saved me. I know she did, I heard her singing. I thought I was done for, but she and the other doctors saved me. So, I need to say how sorry I am for not trusting her, please, David. Let me see her and everyone, please."
Alan looked like a new rabbit, and it hit David with a force he could not ignore. Alan had almost died, and he realized that and he wanted to make things right.
"Okay, then I'll go get the others," David said, still smiling at Alan. He couldn't remember ever seeing Alan this happy. He shook his head and gathered the others and brought them back to Alan. They all walked into the room, and the little bucks gathered around Alan's bed.
Alan hugged all the little guys, just happy to see them. Then he saw Zeke, and he pulled him onto the bed. Zeke smiled at him. Alan smiled back and took a deep breath. He had to do it. He had woken up wanting to do this; he felt like he needed to do it.
"Zeke," he said, trying to capture some courage for what he was about to say.
Zeke turned toward him, "What?"
"I know you're alone, and you lost your brother...and well...I was wondering if...if you...if you would like...if I could...I know I'm not your brother, but I was well..." Alan stammered, trying to find the best way to say this and failing miserably.
Zeke smiled at him. "You want to be my brother?" Zeke asked, looking at him.
Alan nodded. "I know I'm not your brother, and I have been mean lately. But I know that you are alone, and I really..."
"Thank you!" Zeke said, hugging him. "Thank you! Thank you!"
Alan hugged him back. He would never act like he had been acting again. From now on, he was a new rabbit, and he had a new family who cared. He had a little brother now, and he would never let anything happen to him.
Grace smiled from the doorway. The rabbit beside her sneered, then started to walk away.
"Wait. Where are you going? I thought you said Alan was your son, and you wanted to see him?" She called after the rabbit who had said he was Alan's father. The rabbit had said Alan had run away, and he wanted to make sure Alan was okay. But now, he was leaving.
The rabbit didn't say anything; he just walked away with a hard-looking smile on his face. If she didn't know any better, she would think he was planning something. She shook her head, weird. She then walked into the room to see Alan with a smile on his face.
She smiled back. What was wrong with her? Nothing was going to happen, not yet. All was fine and happy right now.
What a joyful reunion!!! So jolly!!
But. That last section. OH NO!!! Is that really Alan's dad? This... this is not good. Oh my, I'm so excited and nervous for the next chapter! This was so well written and I really liked that you had the dividers between each section. It made it easier to read. GREAT job.
