Okay note: I will have my story guild chapter out tonight at the latest as well as the first chapter of a fan fiction for @Mr. Blackstar
It had been too long. Esme had survived the surgery, but she had to be in the hospital for two days after, no visitors allowed. She was being released today, and Fritz was alive with nerves. He wasn’t sure if she would be changed at all, if her stubborn, grumpiness had been all part of the injury. He remembered what the young doe, Emma, had said, thinking that maybe she was right that he stood a chance with Esme. He looked in the mirror again self conscious about how he looked. The chef, who Fritz had learned his name was Gort, had insisted that Fritz be dressed in proper clothing and weaponry. So Fritz wore cargo pants and a thin white shirt. He had a sword at his side, buckled onto his new scabbard. He smiled into the mirror then grimaced, he looked stupid. He shook his head and rushed out of his small room, a grin starting on his face. He raced through the hall, looking for the room he was being reunited with her in. He slowed every time he saw someone walking down the hall, but once they disappeared he was running at top speed. He ran around, hopelessly lost for a long while before he got frustrated and asked for help from a young doe. He tapped her on the shoulder and she turned, causing Fritz’s eyes to widen. It was the doe who had sat next to the fire that one day. The day he had run away from Wandalia and lived by himself. Her strawberry blonde fur gleamed in the light and she smiled slightly at him. Fritz waited for the bubbly sensation to fill his stomach but it didn’t come. Fritz realized he now thought of her as a doe, just a doe no one special, a least not to him. “How may I help you?” she asked “Um I need to find room 215 no sorry, 251.”
“Okay. Take two rights then a left its the…” she pulled her face together in concentration, “The third door down. I think.”
“Okay. Thanks.” He turned around and headed down the hall again, waiting until he turned to start sprinting. The doe had been correct at the doors location and Fritz knocked quietly on the door. The knob turned and the door opened to reveal an older doe. She smiled sweetly at him. “Comb en me dar.” She said softly in a thick accent that Fritz did not recognize. He assumed she wanted him to come in. He slid inside and took a quick look around the room. It was very bright and lively with much light streaming in through a window. The walls were a pure white along with the bed spread. “Where's Esme.” he asked, searching for her again. “Hin da oder room.” the doe said, sitting heavily in a chair. Fritz looked at the door she was looking at and headed over to it slowly. He set his hand on the doorknob feeling the warmth under his fur she was in there waiting he could tell. He opened the door and his eyes went wide with wonder. It was large. Not a small balcony that you might see on a small house but a large spacious one with intricate designs along the railing. The sunrise cast golden beams of light along the room making every small plant look like it was glowing. “This is the young nurses room.” came a quiet voice from behind him. Fritz spun and his mouth fell open. He thought that Esme was beautiful before but she was nothing compared to the doe that stood before him. Her dress was a rose gold color with a gold neckline. It was billowing behind her causing it to shimmer like her eyes. Her eyes looked into his, doing the same piercing inspection he hadn’t realized he had missed. And her fur was no longer covered in blood, but shining like the sun itself. A small cuff was on her wrist glinting in the light and she smiled at him wondering what he would do. She looked like royalty and Fritz understood that he would never be good enough for her because she was perfect. “Hi Fritz.” she said touching a bow on her head that was meant to cover the bandages. “You look amazing.” he managed to breath. She blushed slightly. It looked good on her. “Thanks.” she responded. Fritz couldn’t stand still anymore. He opened his arms and she fell into him, nestling her face into his shoulder. “I missed you so much.” Fritz said.
“I missed you too.” Fritz backed away from her, cupping her face in his hands searching her eyes. They were filled with tears of joy. He smiled softly at her and leaned in to kiss her. Then he felt a hand smack him across the face.
