Okay, so its been a LONG time since i posted a chapter but every day I have school then volleyball, then homework, then bed. And on the weekends I typically have either dog or babysitting. So I have like 20 minute spans of time. I'll try and post more later. try and finish so I don't keep ya'll in suspense. So what are you waiting for! I give you, a depressing piece of writing!
Helmers head hit the tree as he was forced against it by two large bucks. His eyes stung with tears but the sobs had subsided and he tucked his hands into fists as to try and stop the shaking. Garten loomed over him as he tried to twist away. He paused, thinking of strategies to escape, and save the rest of his recruits. Garten pulled a knife from a small scabbard at his side, and brought it to Helmers neck, saying “So this is how it ends.” Helmer closed his eyes waiting for the blow but it never came. He opened his eyes to a shout. “Wait!” It was Ioan and Clayton. Tomas had stopped struggling and now he spoke up. “Please, let him go. You can take us instead.”
“NO!!!” Helmer screamed desperately “No listen son, don’t do this! Please.” But Clayton shook his head “If we are your sons, you are our father, and Francis was our brother. We will join our brother, happy that we saved you. Our father.” The words hit Helmer like a punch and the tears sliding silently down his face faltered, then resumed quickly as a sob stuck in his throat. He opened his mouth to protest but a gag was shoved in his mouth and he gagged, choking on it. He looked up, his eyes watering as Garten crossed to the bucks who now stood solemnly, though he could see through their calm demeanor by the way their hands shook with fright. Garten shoved them to the ground putting the knife to Claytons throat. “This is your last chance.” he snarled cruelly. “You could go home. Never worry about this again.” But Clayton shook his head glaring definitely through tears. The two wolves who were next to Helmer backed away and drew their swords, walking to Tomas and Ioan. More desperate tears sprung to helmers eyes but he blinked them away and they poured down his face. Helmer struggled against the chain, and tried to get the gag from his mouth. The metal cut into his wrists but he didn’t care, not anymore. “Well then,” scowled Garten, without a hint of pity or regret in his voice. “Any last words?” The bucks looked at eachother, and managed to get a hold of each other's hands. By now Helmer's knees buckled and the sob took over, but he kept his head up. Ioan let out a loud sob and tears slid down his face but he clenched his teeth with a bravery Helmer had often seen from him. “Yes.” He managed between sobs. “Yes.” And the next words caused Helmer to scream behind the piece of cloth, it was his fault all his fault… Tomas locked eyes with Ioan and then Clayton and finally Helmer, the bucks tighten their grip, tears sliding down their faces. The wolves and Garten stepped forward, the wolves liking their lips. Then the bucks said together. “My arm for the cause and crown, my all for the cause and crown.” The blades swung and he locked eyes with them, his sons, as they had their last view of the world. He kept his eyes open and Garten allowed him to take in the horrible scene before the flat of a blade hit him on the head and everything went black.
A loud screech brought Helmer back, gruff hands grabbed him and wrestled him to his feet. He managed to look up confused, just in time to see a large black bird swoop down from the sky. Reality dawned on him and he began to sob, falling to the ground again. He screamed desperately, as Garten watched from a distance. Helmer knew how he must look, silly, screaming like this, but again, he didn't care. He remembered the gory scene behind him and he wrenched to turn around, but the chains held him still. Garten bowed as the bird landed. Morbin.
“What!” Helmer yelled. “Brought your big protector to come and kill me!” Garten smirked. “No, he’s here to torture you. Emotionally.” He spun to the woods beyond and called out. “Bring out our special guests. Two bucks were shoved into the clearing, both horribly familiar. “Your highness!” Helmer screamed, wrenching and tugging away. “No!” He sobbed. He looked at the buck being led to the other side of the clearing and he yelled once more “Traitor! How could you. I thought we were friends!” Wilfred looked at him, no tears were in his eyes. “It's too late.” He nearly whispered. “I didn’t have any part in this, but I should have known.” A sob cut him off, but he swallowed it and turned his head away, sitting on the ground, as Helmer continued to scream and pull. Garten marched over, with an all too familiar blade and handed it to Helmer saying cooly. “Why don’t you use that famous blade of yours to cut your arm free. Then you can go down with a fight.” Then he spun and walked away, nodding at the wolf restraining Jupiter. Jupiter was thrown on the ground, with no mercy. Helmer knew he couldn’t go. Not like this. He could hunt down Garten, kill him. He could murder those he cared about in front of him. Morbin looked down at Jupiter meanicinly, his black feathers glinting spookily in the sunset. Jupiter snapped up at him, but Helmer couldn’t make out the words because of a lighthead. But he watched, as Morbin did his worst deed. He looked at the horror on Wilfred's face, a look of pride on Morbins, and a look of slight guilt on Gartens. But he must have imagined it because a moment later it was gone. Morbin then, with one last screech lifted Garten and set off into the sky, the wolves not far behind. Helmer felt broken. He glanced at Wilfred as fatigue came upon him. His eyes drooped and tears slid down his cheeks. The last he remembered was the sight of his life falling apart.
