"On your mark, get set, GO!", thirteen year old Jo Longtreader yelled to both Hanna and Maggie Joveson as he threw the star as hard as he could. It went sailing. The two does took off. He ran while his gaze still followed the star.
The three of them were playing Starseek. They played it everyday since the day the found the magnificent star that Picket Longtreader made after they had overtook First Warren. Close to the day of the final battle. The same day he lost his arm, but found new hope. That day was before he, or any of them, were born. It seemed like it was long ago, but it was only a year before he was born.
How we wished he could have saw his father fight with such courage. He doesn't hear his father speak about the war anymore though. Lallo normally tells him about how he fought. "Focus", Jo thought. "No time to get sidetract."
It was still flying at full speed but getting lower and lower. Hanna was leading. Behind her was Jo. Maggie was slacking today. The day before, she had twisted her ankle. She was only able to run today because of some True Blue. Still, it didn't heal it fully. It should be good by tommorow.
Jo pushed himself harder and harder to run faster. He finally got in front of Hanna and and then saw the star go into a cave. He ran to the cave. He slowed down to a jog until Hanna and Maggie caught up. He told them what he saw. Hanna saw what happened also. Maggie was so far behind she couldn't see the star when it went into the cave.
"But it's forbidden Jo", Hanna said as they were walking into the cave. He knew it was, but he just wanted to in for a second, just to get the star.
"But it's my father made it, it's one of a kind. There isn't another one in all Natilia; we have to get it," Jo said determined to get it no matter if the other two went or not.
"Hanna, it'll just be for a minute", Maggie said dragging out the word minute. Hanna knew they were right, she just didn't like disobeying the rules. Her mother and father were always telling her that a princess has to follow the rules, to be a good role model.
"Fine, but if we get in trouble", she said a smile coming to her face, " Then I'm blaming it on you Jo Longtreader." And at that they decended into darkness.
Shoutout to @Fleck Cove for inspiring me to do this. Hope everyone enjoyed and I will try to have another chapter out next week. Any feedback or ideas are welcome.
everything starts with starseek doesn't it?
