I for one was really surprised to find he was a fake... it kinda came all at once, him being a usurper and the massive dragon colony. It was probably so big for me because the wicked revelation came just as his character 'Clicked" in my head.
By the way, the secret dragon colony explains how Heather saw another pair of dragon eyes in the dragon tomb, which disappeared, and then the "keeper" came up from behind.
I thought he might have been the keeper because as far as I know, the keeper could have originally been evil. Also, when Heather dreamed the prophecy, the real keeper must have somehow connected to her. But if not, why would the “keeper” tell her. But the “keeper”also said her killed the real keeper years ago. So was there a betrayal within the dragons kind? Could the have been a sensible dragon in there? Who knows? I’m probably over thinking it.
@Kaleb my guess is that the real keepers, for one reason or another, honored the treaty with Lander. They only allowed one egg to hatch-that if their replacement-and seem to have had peaceful conferences with Lander’s heirs. To the dragon prince this no doubt seemed like cowardice, and thus he felt justified in killing the last keeper and then impersonating him.
He was honestly shady enough without being revealed as a false keeper. The whole "self-awakening prince" prophecy also didn't have much weight to it considering that we literally didn't hear about it until he said it.
For me, not knowing much of anything about the dragons aside from them being evil, I didn't really trust him much to begin with. I couldn't know whether he was the keeper not, though. For all I knew, the keeper might not have ever existed.
yep. ever since he was like the keeper knows all...
