Hi everyone. I am new here and am not too familiar with the website, but I found this necessary. Me and my friend stumbled upon this website one night while geeking out on Ember's End, and now I have become a new Mender to the Cause. My first thought when I joined was to make a lament to our dear friend Helmer, so here it goes...

We all know the grumpy, sarcastic, humorous bunny known as Helmer the Black, and we have come to love him throughout the series. When we first met Helmer glaring out from under his tree, we knew right away we would love this grouchy, tough rabbit, and we were right. And when Ember's End came out, we knew the day would come when we would be mourning Helmer's death. Though I am still deeply sorrowful of his death, there was no better way for him to end than to die for his friends, family, and cause. The memory of him holding the torch in the air and putting his fist on his heart will forever live on, as well as his empty chair at the end. His sarcastic humour will always be in our thoughts, his brave deeds in our minds, and his sacrifice in our hearts. Because of his sacrifice, the Mended Wood was restored, and many rabbits lived to see another day. Helmer was, and will forever be, one of our favourite characters of all time, and his legacy will never die.

I know this has been long, but I wanted to express my gratitude for Helmer to others, and I am sure almost all of you feel the same way about our dear The Black. May his legacy live on for all time. My place beside you,
