So @Saga 's Heyna art challenge, and @Harper Lightbrooke 's response to it, have prompted some discussion and thoughts regarding our favorite female Blackstar. The Longtreaders, royals, and S.D. Smith's favorite archer have had their potential partners discussed at length; I figure it's Heyna's turn. Her potential suitors-at least that we know of-are listed below alphabetically.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Jo Shanks
Jo, in The Archer's Cup, expressed no romantic interest in Heyna. He claims that he sees her as more like a sister, much as Picket and Cole have become his brothers. But as we see later in the book, Jo's mind can change, and drastically under the right circumstances. Plus, we have no idea what Heyna has to say on the subject. Is her teasing merely sibling-esque affection, or is there more to it?
Kylen
This one is my own little ship, and some may call it a crackship (one that has pretty much nothing to support it). I will admit that this kind of came to me out of nowhere. Heyna and Kylen never interacted in the pages of the books we currently have, and he was pining for Heather for most of them. But I do feel like there is potential in this one.
Lokson
Anyone who's read The Archer's Cup-which hopefully applies to everyone here-might find this proposal dubious. As charming as most everyone else seems to find Lokson, Heyna decidedly does not. Moreover, Lokson is already spoken for, and both he and his betrothed seem pretty committed. Even if the tragedies of the last days of the war left him bereft, I find it doubtful he would end up with Heyna. But one or two users have put forward the pairing, perhaps under the impression that Heyna's dislike is merely a veil for her true feelings towards him.
Morgan Booker
Here we've got another unlikely buck whose attentions were focused elsewhere throughout his appearances in the series. Furthermore, Heyna and Morgan had no interactions that we know of, and she observed his getting to know Emma. They have no real shared history so far as we know. But if Emma doesn't end up with Morgan, perhaps someone he met at nearly the same time-so far as we know-might be interested?
Nate Flynn
It's a bit unclear when or how Heyna might have become acquainted with one of the best archers in Natalia. Her brother Cole is on a first name basis with him, and Nate and Heyna both endured a meal with Lokson and Cheltham in The Archer's Cup. We've never seen them interact, but both seemed devoted to the Cause to the exclusion of all else. Now that the Cause is won, each might be feeling a bit lost. And that might lead to some interesting developments...
Others
Ultimately, it's probably easier to name bucks who aren't potential suitors for Heyna. Obviously Smalls, Picket, and Naylen aren't options because they're married to other does. Any deceased bucks are likewise off the table, though so far as I know she wasn't close to anyone like that anyway. But beyond that, there's really nothing preventing Heyna's eventually becoming involved with, say, Heyward, or one of the other Bracers, or Emerson. Or it could be there's some buck out there for her who we haven't, and never will, meet.
But ain't it fun to wonder?
They all seem okay for her I dont really know how I feel about Lokson and Morgan. To me I think Morgan would be kind of heartbroken over Emma and I feel like he doesnt really care about Heyna at all (yes I know I dont have anything to back up what I am saying this is just what I think Morgan is like in my head)
Jo tho, oh my dear Jo. I think they would be awesome together!!! Now don't get me wrong this would be if everything went south with Kyle. Because as we all sadly know its going to be #Jemma4life most likely in the next GE book (if there is another) But I mean think about Jo and Heyna being a thing would be so funny!
And yall know how I feel about Kyle and Heyna being a thing #Keyna4life (P.S. to @Kilmarnock228 for coming up with this ship. THANK YOU.)
and now there's Nate.
Nate F. I think could work but he just won't be as good as Jo or Kyle I feel. Anyways this was fun to look at thanks for doing this!
