I'm sorry if this gets long or just me ranting, but I want others to hear my thoughts on the end of Ember's End.
(I also didn't know if I should put this in the Ember's End section or the Characters section, but I think it fits better in Characters?)
Here we go...
I'm upset that Picket ended up with Wheezie and not Emma. Wheezie was the only introduced in Ember Rising, unlike Emma who was introduced in The Green Ember. Also one of the most inspirational quote in the Green Ember series is Emma to Pickecandidatet, "You can choose what you believe, Shuffler, but you can’t change what’s true." Wheezie's late introduction and small amount of character development didn't make her the best candidate for Picket's wife.
Picket ending up with Emma would have made more sense since they were so close during the first and second books. They also have a better couple name, #Pemma. I think that #Jemma is okay too, but not as good as #Pemma. Okay, I think I'm done with ranting for now. If anyone wants to debate why #Peezie is better than #Pemma leave a comment. Until then...
God bless and Bear the Flame,

I've been shipping #Pemma since the beginning. I was hoping Weezie would have development in EE so that I could be able to enjoy #Peezie, but she received basically none. Maybe if Weezie had been introduced in EF, then it would've been better but as it was, we watched the hero, who many of us were attached to, marry a stranger. Nobody could convince me that Emma+Picket isn't the perfect match. It's clear to me that Picket needs someone to bring life and light into his life from time to time. Picket really needs a healer. I could see that Weezie didn't have the ability to lift Picket out of the darkness, she had her own darkness to deal with.
Emma needed a rock, someone to depend on and to be there for her no matter what. She also needed someone to protect and heal. Her healing was much more than just physical healing, and she needed to bring the light to people and to have someone close to her to accept that light.
It always seemed obvious to me that Emma and Picket lifted each other up in a way that Picket and Weezie didn't.
I didn't enjoy the end for Picket. I wish he hadn't married Weezie and became a farmer on Helmer's land. It was as if he was fulfilling Helmer's legacy and not his own. It seemed like he was doing it out of guilt and sorrow, not joy and love.
