So being an uncle myself, the fact that a couple of my favorite Green Ember characters are uncles kind of resonates with me. Throw in my quirky sense of humor, and it occurred to me that Helmer and Wilfred may have had similar thought processes at different points in the series.

Wilfred: My niece Heather has been separated from her father. As her uncle, it is thus my responsibility to watch over her and, if need be, intimidate any undesirable bucks who may seek to win her affections.

Heather: *Likes Smalls*

Wilfred: Well…all right then.

Helmer: My niece Weezie has lost her father. It is thus my prerogative to scare the living daylights out of any bucks who try to mess with her.

Weezie: *Likes Picket*

Helmer: …darn it, I was looking forward to that.
