So, after reading about the final battle in the War for All Natalia-which reads a bit like the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, only with 900 Nazgul instead of 9-I’m even more puzzled about a historical aspect of the series. We’re told that King Jupiter fought a number of conflicts over the course of his life: namely, the ones I quoted in my post title. We know that Picket’s crazy acrobatics were a new thing, as were the subsequent additions of gliders. We also know that bowstrikers weren’t invented until some time before the Battle for First Warren, nor did the armies of King Jupiter have access to the Seventh District’s innovations.
So how in Natalia did Jupiter manage to win any battle, let alone NINE wars?!
Totally agree with everything everyone just said. Lol. @Derrick Rowe you sound like you should be a war general or something.
I think it's also good to remember that we are overanalyzing a children's book (and I completely include myself in that "we"). Sam would probably say that that's something unimportant that the readers aren't supposed to think about.
You have to remember the Resistance to Morbin was *after* the collapse of the rabbit’s kingdom/empire. The books demonstrate that rabbits have a fairly sophisticated and developed society and governing structure that supports a well-developed military that not only supports a standing army and navy but also officer training schools, general training regimen for the rank and file (basic training), and merit and competency based promotion for all ranks. These developments give rabbit society (in the parts of Natalia explored) the ability to resist their enemies effectively and defeat them. It can not be overstated the importance of developing a professional standing military with a trained and career officer corps, that’s what made Rome so successful, and Prussia as well. The rabbits have this, their enemies don’t, which means the rabbits will be able to develop battle plans, put them into effect, and react much more efficiently than their enemies. Further, a trained army has discipline which means it withstands morale shocks better, such as the loss of officers and comrades, and is more efficient in combat due to unit cohesion that is developed within the military’s training program. That is the major reason, I would argue, the rabbits were successful against their enemies, when their realm collapsed, they lost all of that had had to rebuild it, which takes a lot time, effort, and resources.
My point with the innovations stuff was that, even with them, the Cause was outmatched and nearly wiped out. So how did they manage BEFORE they had all that stuff?
Looking back in human history, we’ve went from swords, to spears to javelins, to speared guns, to AK-47’s to tanks, to nukes and grenades, to crazy stuff. I think this is how it played out in GE. Plus before Morbin, there was probably a lot of disorder. I’m pretty sure Morbin became “Ruler” After the 8’th war and beginning of ninth because he fell at the ninth or tenth? Plus rabbits are smart? :) lol
