So…….Anyone else like history?
I’m specifically talking about made-up fantasy history in this case. One thing that the Green Ember series is somewhat (severely) lacking is in-world history. Essentially what that means is that we have a (kind of) origin story, a (hinted at) migration, a single, six month-to two years (Depending on your timeline ‘cause hey! This isn’t specified either!) war that’s….detailed on one front, and….like….at least one thousand years of missing history. And that’s on the low end of estimations.
So!
Me, my ADHD, and my obsession with history and creative writing is about to take you on a journey through (fake) Natalian history!
(Disclaimer; ninety-five percent of this is headcanon. I love history. That’s going to become clear, and I thought this would be fun. Also prepare for some hot takes, because no king is perfect and I will not pretend so.)
The first thing to establish is a rough timeline, because we need a way to divide up time itself into something palatable and not….a disastrous mess of random threads that probably don’t connect to anything! Yay!
So, BL and AL.
That’s pretty simple. Before Leaping and After Leaping. Considering how much importance it is in Natalian culture and history, it seems a good way to divide their timeline. The following will be an (extremely rough) break-down of major Ages;
BL: Little is known other than the stories. Also known as ‘The Age of Legends’.
0-200 AL: The Fall of Blue Moss Hills and the first Civil War. ‘The Age of Wars’
200-1000 AL: The Rise and Fall of the Golden Coast. Considered the Golden Age of rabbitkind. ‘The Golden Age’ Yup. I’m real creative.
1001 AL: Crossing to Natalia.
1001- 2436 AL: The Reign of the Natalian Kings, up to Modern Day. ‘The Age of Kings’
Within these Ages there are periods, which I will focus on one at a time. First up? (Whenever I get around to it?) The Age of Legends.
Super excited!
This is something I've actually never thought about before. I'm excited for more of this!
